my heartfelt condolences to Late Mr Rajaretnam's family on my behalf as I don't see any other means by which to pass on my feelings.
On this sad day I am remembering my young days when we used to congregate near the Nehru Community Centre to play and while away the time. I always valued his guidance and kind words and counselling whenever it was offered. I was one of the ball boys when they played volley ball. He and late Mr Manickavasagar (Post Master's son) were the unofficial guardians for us youngsters of the area. To my knowledge (I may be wrong), we only have Mr Muthulingam surviving among the group of senior relatives and friends of the 1950's who used to congregate near the Community Centre in the good old days. In addition Mr Rajaretnam also succeeded my father as the Village Headman on my fathers retirement (Old 3rd Division).
Sad to hear of a wonderful man, "mamanithan" passing away. May God bless his soul and bless him with eternal peace and happiness.
